Lox Yeo

A tributary of the river Axe, the Lox Yeo origins are head streams from limestone springs which rise near Winscombe. It meanders for a distance of approximately 4.5 miles in a South Westerly direction through the valley between Compton Hill and Banwell Hill  and then flows beneath the M5 south of Christon. Close to Loxton the river appears to have been diverted into a straight channel which joins with the river Axe approximately 0.5 miles to the south. The old course of the river, known as the Old Lox Yeo, returns beneath the M5 to join the river Axe south of Webbington.
